The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) was created to help global payment card industry organizations that process card payments prevent credit card fraud through increased controls around data and its exposure to compromise. From the world's largest corporations to small Internet stores, merchants who store, process or transmit cardholder data are responsible for maintaining a secure network, protecting data, implementing strong access control measures and regularly monitoring and testing their application.

PA-DSS represents a specific set of requirements that a system must meet if it is used to process credit card transactions. An independent assessor, approved by the PCI SSC, must audit each system and assign a "pass" or "fail" to the application. Those that pass are put on the official list of PA-DSS-compliant applications - of which zed eCommerce is now included.

For zed eCommerce and WebCRM 7.5, being PCI-DSS compatible provides an extra measure of protection for users. After testing 70,000 vulnerabilities, the newest version has added several changes to user authentication such as user accounts, passwords, encryptions and other payment data related information.
